A simple quandary

I have noticed the banners at the bottom of the site(not the topsites) like Eon Community and so forth. Well,I was wondering, are those sites affiliates, community sites, or something along that manner? If so then I have investigated and checked a few of those sites and I don't see a link back to here. Now I know that the link changes everytime you visit a page, so of course, its not the same. Its just that I don't think that any of those siteshave linked back to here at all =/. Don't you all think that it would be more effective if we were to just affiliated with them and got put on the list thats more visible?

I was just a little confused about that. so could someone please clarify.
