When you "grow up"

Basically, I was thinking about this for a few days.


When you were younger, you always wanted to do that "exciting" profession when you were an adult, (fireman, astronaut, race car driver, etc. etc...)

now that I am older, I am nowhere near what I wanted to be when I was younger.

So, the question of the day is:

What did you want to be when you were younger thinking about growing up, and are you close to that dream or have you given up on it?

When I was younger, I always wanted to be a pro wrestler, and I am nowhere near that goal today, and I have indeed given up on that ambition.

well, I always wanted to be:

• a fossil digger:
- given up because history (at school) is boring and later on I didn't like the idea

• a astronaut:
- kinda given up because I'll never make it to NASA, and I thought that it was ust playing on the moon or something XD

• a well trained psionic*:
- not really given up, I'm stil practicing but whitout any results… T_T

* = for the ones who don't know what a psionic is:
a psionic is a person who practices telekenisis or any other kind of kenisis like pyrokenisis or biokenisis. also, telepathation, emhaty and teleportation are also "forms" of telekenisis.

Well when I was a very young I wanted to make a popular song and be famous for it =P

The only thing I've been doing that's even close to that is write (unprofessional) lyrics...so yeah.

And there's always the "I want to be a [insert cool job here]" dream, and I know those never happen unless you actually love it.

Back when I was little, I had actually wanted to speak Latin. Fast forward to 2008 - Not gonna happen.

Also, I had taken up percussion back in 2000, wanting to continue on that path. That dissolved due to being unable to perform at most of the high school football games during the season. I am nowhere in sight of acheiving this unless something happens.

I sought to be a cartoonist when I was younger, so I am one now, though I have quite a bit 'fore I need to make two bits... by that point I'll have more than a thousand sample strips to show to a syndicate. Still, I am pondering whether I should self-publish. Only a few have broken out by those means (e.g. Jeff Smith) but you keep all creative control. Watterson once commented on syndicates, saying 'tis good only if they don't interfere in the making of the comic strip, but just give judgment or give the ax. That is very wise.
