The first in my "Idiots Guide" Series I'm writing, teaches you how to recolour.

Firstly, I will show you the Tools you will be using most.

The Pencil tool. Most of you should know how to use this by now. But, for those who don’t, you click, and the colour will be placed as a "pixel"

The "select" tool. One of THE Most useful tools in recolouring. The setting shown is the one you will be using. Ill explain that later

The Zoom tool. Useful to get specific detail, and to make sure it is all perfect.

The "Picker" tool. With this tool, you can pick the colours from one Pokemon, and the other, which helps greatly in recolouring.

The Fill tool. Also very useful when recolouring, it will fill a block of one colour with the colour that is first on the colour list.

As shown above, the two squares of colour overlapping to the left represent which colours you will be using, and which clicker itll use (So if you are using pencil tool, and click right, itll use the bottom colour)

Recolouring

Firstly, select your pokemon you want to recolour, and the pokemon you want to get the colours from. In this case I am recolouring Squirtle in Turtwigs colours. Get the sprites, and put them in paint, as shown below.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/Tauros_Rule/Guide-7.png

Now, Chose, with the Picker tool the colours to take away from Squirtle, and to give Squirtle from Turtwig. The best way of doing this is by chosing the lightest colours, as such

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/Tauros_Rule/Guide-8.png

Now, using the Select tool, select Squirtle, and only Squirtle, and move it away from where it was, but first Copy the squirtle. If this is successful, you should be left with a Square of Blue, and a Squirtle without that blue. As such

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/Tauros_Rule/Guide-9.png

Now, using the fill tool, click on the blue square, and you should be left with a Green square.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/Tauros_Rule/Guide-10.png

Next, Paste the Squirtle you copied from earlier, and move it over the green square so it is completely covered. You should be left with a Squirtle with Green where the blue was. As such.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/Tauros_Rule/Guide-11.png

Repeat this so that all the blue is replaced by green. As such

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/Tauros_Rule/Guide-12.png

Now repeat with the shell. In some cases, you may need to go into the colours menu, to get a different shade of a colour if you do not have enough. Go to Colours, Then edit colours, And define custom colours. You will be given a method to make your current main colour lighter or darker.

You will now end up with a perfectly recoloured pokemon, which you can save. SAVE IN .PNG ONLY

Thanks for reading, and have fun recolouring.

ehm… SHTR? now i won't day that i'm the best at recoulering but i have realy much expirience. i use photoshop but when i used paint i always used the bucket icon (fill) to recouler. i selected the color that needed to be put on the poke-to-recouler and used the bucket tool…
in photoshop you can use the "color-selector" (looks like a magic staff) to select all the colors and then use CTRL+F5 and pres enter/OK
