What Got You Into Pokemon?

What did it for me....

some time ago, about 1998/1999, I was in the 6th Grade, I first saw the Pokemon commercials and thought "WTF is this?"

I never thought I would EVER like it... Untill one day I went to a friends house after school and he was all "Hey lets watch Pokemon" I denied at first, but it was his house, so I did, and somehow, that was it. I was obsessed ever since... Anime, games.......yea

I still remember the first ep I saw, it was when Ash caught Charmander.

How about everyone else, what did it for you?

I got the game Pokemon Red right before a summer trip to Vietnam. Ever since then, I've loved the games.

Oh, I got Yellow not long after it came out, and here I am, today...

My stepbrother got Red for Christmas one year. I loved watching him play. Eventually, years later, I finally got my own GBC and Blue and Yellow and I've pretty much been hooked ever since. :3

Hmmmm....I was 3 years old..in new york....it was at least a week after my birthday and i got a slowpoke pokemon card...i liked the slowpoke so i started collecting cards..now I AM A POKEMON GEINIUS!!!!(and it started with a slow poke.....lol)

I got Red and Blue in 1998 a long time back.

Now, I don't watch the show, but I casually play the games.

Friend introduced me to it. My brother got Red version and we both used take turns playing it. I eventually got Blue later, though.

I think it was the anime that got me into it. My friend brought this one trailer about Pokemon products [Trading Cards, Anime, Games, etc] and it turned out to be interesting.

After he bought Blue version, I watched him play it; eventually got one myself and got into it.

When Pokemon was in its dark period, I watched the news about the seizure incident. My mother made me, her knowing that I was a big fan of anime. So I first got into Pokemon because I couldn't forget the little yellow rodent with sparking cheeks. o_O

But what sealed the deal for me was when Pokemon was coming out in America. I received a video from Toys "R" Us in the mail, telling about an uber strange franchise. And after watching that video, I was hooked. I really wanted the games.

It all started back when I was kindergeten... *old storyteller mode* They showed the anime and it was a big hit. Kids at school had stickers, my friends and I had these small plastic figures we bought at the night markets; one of my friends even had Pokemon Red! I still have a few of the toys for keepsake but I have to search around for them if you wanna see... ^^;

I was watching CITV once when I was small, and they were all "we've got a new show today: it's called Pokémon, and if you like (some show I watched all the time) then you'll love this!" So I watched it, and I've been obsessed ever since.

Well years ago, I had lots of pokemon cards and I used to play with them. Later I watched the pokemon on TV. I got so in to pokemon I started buying games.

It is a mix for me, one of my friends got the red game. And an other friend got the TradingCardGame. They both got me so far to and get the games and get TradingCards but after a couple of years I stopped with the TradingCards. But I continued with the games.
