After being on the internet for over 3 years, I wonder why my brain isn't mush. XD

I may need to get a job in the Summer. Hopefully involving computers, since that's one of the only things I can do without screwing up (much).
My head always hurts from lsitening to music too loud with my earphones. Perhaps I should use the speakers instead, which may bother some but they might be used to that by now.

Most of my knowledge is from my dad. I'd never have figured out how to do a Linux command-line backup to a SCSI tape drive on the net...

I looked up most of the stuff myself.
My dad knows nothing about Linux, so I always spend quite a while figuring out things on my own.
The same goes for PHP and MySQL. He'd be able to help me with C++ though, but ever since I've had that one lecture, I've improved a lot at it.

My dad used to work as a programmer of sorts, so he taught me quite a bit about computers, though now, I'm probably just as proficient.

Wi-Fi doesn't work either.
Oh, well. I've got almost everything I had before I moved. A piano, a 7-Eleven, a TV, a library somewhere downtown, and a bunch of games.
Arielle
06-11-2007, 08:54 PM
Oh, you moved? I know how that feels. I move around a lot. In fact, I'm moving towards the end of this month. I hope I can find free Wi-Fi somewhere close to my dorm, just in case I want to do trades over the Internet. I know I don't get Wi-Fi in my dorm room, just an Ethernet cable for the 'net.
Ben Kenobi
06-11-2007, 08:56 PM
It was 800x600. My current is 1280x1024 and before that was 1024x768. Everything looks much better in high-res. In fact, I don't ever wanna use the 1024x768 one again. Or even Windows XP since I'm familiar with Vista even though it doesn't support a lot of programs.
Arielle
06-11-2007, 08:58 PM
I'd love to switch past 1024x768, but my monitor's cheap and doesn't support anything higher. ~~ But at least it's not 800x600. I remember when I was forced to use it. It wasn't fun.
I wouldn't mind going back to XP. In fact, I didn't want to use Vista for awhile. But that's what came with the computer, and I'm not paying to downgrade. XD

It's in looks, but also in how some things work. Most of the time, you'll get prompts while trying to install stuff for security reasons. Some programs don't work well either.
Nap time~! 8D
Black Dragon
06-11-2007, 09:21 PM
I remember back in Kindergarten when we used to have naptime, and nobody slept. And now that I'm in 8th grade and have super-hard classes, I'm wishing that I had it. Some things should not be taken for granted. ESPECIALLY naptime...
We had to take a test back in 6th grade to see if we were going to take Algebra I in 7th or 8th grade, and I didn't know that that was the test. The questions were so friggin' easy. Stuff like 'x + 5 = 10, what is x?'...I can't believe only about 15 of us passed that test...
Arielle
06-11-2007, 09:32 PM
But for 6th grade, that's hard stuff. I know I barely learned any of that in 6th grade.
Of course, I could do those equations in a heartbeat. In fact, I think they're fun. x3
Black Dragon
06-11-2007, 09:42 PM
Yes, they are quite fun compared to everything else we're learning. =)
My school is ranked pretty high in my state. #1, actually. And it's not doing too bad in the nation, either. Last year it was ranked #17.

I'm taking Geometry this year. One of my friends is doubling up and taking Geometry as well as Algebra II. I think he's crazy.
It doesn't really matter what rank your school is in, it's just a matter of how much you try to learn. If you're in a good school, but you aren't paying attention at all, then you're not really learning anything.
Arielle
06-11-2007, 09:53 PM

Speaking of geometry, I remember those annoying proofs... can't do them anymore, but I hated them when I did know how to do them. I made up a proof of my own once. It was awesome. XD

it will change when you get older, and just like we have sprite, coke etc. There is some difference between beers of different brands. I am not an expert though :)

I've been to the following states: Oklahoma (lived there), Texas (temporarily livin' here), Louisiana, Maryland, California, Florida, Nevada, New York, Maine, Colorado, Nebraska, and Washington, D.C. (doesn't really count as a state though, but it's quite worthy of mention).

I was on TV once too. It was on this little news segment called the Pacific Report. Ages ago, there had been a snowstorm, and the AFN guys came to our bus stop. I made a snowball (I wanted attention, methinks), and one of the guys noticed. They asked what I was going to do with it, and I said "I donno." They suggested I throw it, so I did. My aim sucked, but it was amsuing.
I didn't get in trouble either. 8D
And apparently, my mom and brother saw me in a commercial about church. The AFN guys (well, different crew, this was here and not in Japan) recorded during church, and they made it a commercial. One night, I was on the computer (come on, where else would I be?), and they were like "SAM YOU'RE ON TV" but I missed it. Never saw the commercial again. >:
I'm on TV all the time.
