I have a lot of experience modding forums in that situation. Forums that will have bursts of activity for a few hours every day but with many inactive sections. I suppose it's easier than modding a forum like SPPf or PC.

True, but the amount of people to infract and the number of threads to mod is must greater. And as far as advertising goes, there are only so many things you can do. Add links to your signatures, type the address as your usertitle where possible, and if a forum has an advertising section there, advertise there. Other than that, affiliation and telling friends is about all you can do legally, though it varies.

I guess opinions vary.

You can have fun modding inactive forums, too. Less work you have to do. ;D Sure, you might have to think more, but then again, if you're having fun, does it matter if you have more members? Not really, I think. What you have now should be the main focus, and if that's good, then expand if you can.

And yeah, there's only so much you can do. If your forum doesn't catch on, it, well, doesn't. And it's their loss. We're fun, even if there's only a few of us posting every day. ;D
