Well, with D/P coming out really soon, we've had a flood of names. Overall, most of the names are combinations of words (IE: Monfero is monkey + inferno, Empoleon is Emperor and Napoleon), with a few keeping their original names (for the most part; I know they change a few letters to get the same pronunciation in English as in Japanese... or something like that *shot*).
With that, do you like how they choose the English names? Why or why not? If you don't, what should they do instead?
I don't mind. I'm kind of used to the word combination method now, and most of them turn out okay.
Hopefully this isn't too confusing. ^^;;

I find a great deal of Pokemon names cheesy, so to say. They're generally acceptable tbh though.

I don't like it that much, but I don't know what they could do about it. Or maybe I have a small remark, they have to try harder sometimes, they had no big changes, I mean they keep using same parts over and over in lines, like plup, or inferno, or star. I prefer it if names are more different.

I'm pretty much ok with all of the names.

I'm fine with the names, not that I care much... we'll just get used to it eventually, I mean, especially the people who will be new to Pokemon. They wouldn't care what was the Japanese name of the 4th Gen Pokemon, at least, I was like that when I started to like Pokemon during the 3rd Gen.

I don't really care about the names anymore, since I nickname the Pokemon that I like/use.
Next thing you know, there's gonna be a Plasmosis.

I think they usually did a good job with the names, but most of the Sinnoh Pokemon names are terrible in my opinion. They just sound really akward and they aren't memorable.

As long as the names are 1) Pronounceable and 2) Not too Cheesy then they seem alright to me.

For the most part, I think they're okay. There's always bound to be a few lame names with that many Pokemon.
But would you be able to come up with all those names and not make them sound too horrible?

They use a set process to choose the names???!?! Most of the names so far have been fine, so no objections yet... Key word yet.
