Welcome to the Show Room of the PIForums' Art School!
As you go through the Study Room, you see that some tutorials might need a "practical study", as stated below the Lesson Title.
All questions and doubts related to the Tutorials shown in the Study Room can be posted here (not in the Study Room). It would help us if, when asking a question, you mentioned which tutorial you were doing, unless it's a question like "What are gradients?", where the lesson you are doing is completely irrelevant.
Now, show us the results of your study!

Very well. Can't say much, since the tutorial was well executed. Good job! *thumbs up*

Several comments to make about this banner:
1 - Green Background, with a redish render? Silly choice!
2 - The Fractal Brushes aren't good at all.
3 - It doesn't seem to me, that you smudged. [However, see below.]
I forgot to add some information about that tutorial, which I'll add now. Please, post again with the new results.

My bad, I was messing around with the Hue/Saturation and it came out dodgy X_x
2 - The Fractal Brushes aren't good at all.
I see... I'll try and find some others...

Okay I'll go and see =P

Use these (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/20484978/) Fractal Brushes.
Also, why did you use Hue? oO

Should I not have used Hue?
I'll mess around with it later and see if I can get a better background colour.
And I'll download the brushes you just showed me.

I tried the plasma background tutorial... however, my gradients wouldn't work right (maybe it's because I have 7?), so I tried it with brushes. And I made them purple because I was too lazy to change the color. XD;
This was with small brushes... I actually like this, I think it's pretty~ (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/insaneSammi/tut_background_j.jpg) However, it doesn't look much like the tutorial example, huh? XD;
This looks more like the original, but yet not. It looks more like the flesh tutorial o_O (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/insaneSammi/tut_background_2_j.jpg)

Sorry, I was in a hurry, and didn't have time to edit it.
Yes, use Hue as the tut said. I forgot which tutorial you were talking about.

The gradients didn't work? I can't say it's because you have 7, since the first photoshop I had was the one I have now (CS2), so I don't know which options each version has. I'll try to know, however.
Well, both results aren't similar to the tutorial result, since you used brushes. I think gradients are really needed to do this tut. =/ No matter what you used, it's still very nice.

Much much better than the last one. I don't know if you noticed, but some of the brushes converge into Mewtwo's hand, almost like energy charging. If you wanted to do it, and managed, then kudos! If that was just plain luck, then...you're lucky. A quick note: I prefer the first, second, and last brushes of that set. They're... well, I can't really explain myself, but try those. They're much better than some of the remaining. *thumbs up*
Grade: 17
But now, let's forget the tutorial, and talk about the banner itself.
As you may have noticed, it's quite a large plain, with one render on the middle. What does that give us? A lot of empty space.
You could also put some text, to "spice" it. I don't think I need to do a tutorial about text, still *points to Suggestion Box*.
Taking this upon consideration:
Grade: 14
By doing more banners, and trying other brushes, and using your own "touch", you will do better. You can post here again, for a new evaluation.

Thank you for the comments Dootakun. ^^
The power charging was actually luck. =P But I did also notice it and thought it looked nice. =)
I will take into consideration your comments and I will put some text in, probably on the left hand side. I will make some more banners and I hope I will improve. =D

Nothing much to say. The exercise was well executed: even the plasma seems to converge on the Bulba. However, there's that small black area on the left side. Nevertheless, *thumbs up!*
Grade: 19
Now, you may have noticed that the banner is quite plain: just a background, and a render with no effects at all. That's what I wanted you to notice: that effects are badly needed.

There...here is my try at the gel^^ I like it... I like it a lot... *Thinks:I really DO like it a lot!* Finally, I made something in photoshop that looks mildly ok...belive me...you would NOT want to see the first try... And even if you did, I deleted it anyway :P (I'm sorry it's so big, but I completely forgot that when I read the tutorial, using the actual 400x400...) Also, is that the way I should spell completely? Yes, I know it's off topic, but I'm really self-conscious about my spelling...I'm a foreigner... Well, I'm drifting, here's the gel.

Wrong thread to show these banners, Elphaba's Devout ;/ Create your own banner portefolio, and post these banners (well, banner and user bar ;P). I'll be happy to comment when on the right place.
Quick comment: User bar animation needs more frames, like the Aion banner.

If I still had Photoshop it would be a lot better:
