What do you think about dubbing?

I don't like the English dub of the anime, all the people sound like very little children
In the german dub Ash's voice sounds like if he has no feelings. It makes watching the series nearly impossible for me...
I don't like dubs in general they should put subtitles...

Ash's voice in german... lots of people are angry about it but I don't think that it is a reason for not watching it.:confused:

Making characters in an animated movie or series speak; or translating a movie/series to another language by deleting what they say in the original and replacing it with the new version......

Oh, yea, I don't like dubbling neither. They should have substitle and only music in the background^^. Some times some phrases are so lame.

I've only seen the original version and the dubbed American version. The Japanese one is fantastic with the human characters voices as well as the Pokémon voices. While the American dub is good, recently James voice actor seems to have changed James voice to a very whiny tone. Some of the dubbed Pokémon voices are really bad too.

I think in the English version, they make Chu family (Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu) sound so bad. I bet they should sound better than that since they're all very cute.

they shouldn't change the Pokémon calls when dubbing the show.
There would be no problem with the original Pokémon names/calls.

My gosh, the dub is English is getting worse as it goes.I just saw the latest pokemon episode on the TV and the dub was horrible. I think they changed the voices for Ash and Pikachu. They sound like chiken 'ss now. I think it's better in Japanese (even though I don't understand it but the sound of the pokemons are good).

The dub does get worse...all the time. Look at the Pokemon movie that aired on Kids WB, I think it was movie 6, didn't watch much of it, but since I saw the Japenese one, you can tell that in the dub the characters voices were off, like their mouths moved a little faster than they were talking, things like that. And the dub voices for the movies are really, really bad, I LOVE the Japenese movie voice actors!

I actually like Brock's voice. I think that it suits him. Ash is less boyish and geeky. Max's voice suits him.

That's probably because we've gotten so used to their English voices.

Dubs...? Well, for the most part I don't find much wrong with them. I like the voices of the dubbed versions, although it makes me believe that each character like a twin - especially when it comes to Drew and Shuu.

I think the english dub could be much better. The voices for the Pokémon always seem worse than I hoped for. They sound so weird, and they sound... kinda bad.
The humans seem this way sometimes. When I first heard Drew's voice, I thought it was really annoying. @_@
And they're all the same... it's fun to guess which VA it is, but some varitey would be fun too. ^^;
From the few Japanese episodes that I saw, I like their voices better.

Other than the voices, the rest of the dub is okay with me. (I haven't seen a lot of Japanese episodes, so I really can't say anything about editing. Pokémon isn't one of those shows that gets badly edited anyway, compared to other 4kids shows.)

People really shouldn't say that the Pokemon dub sucks...it is better than most other animes that went through the dub process and were robbed of everything they had. Stop the complaining...it could so be worse.
As for Drew's voice, I liked it and then when I found out it was from my favorite voice actor (JT Ross(he does marik Ishtar from YGO)), I loved it! ^^

The dub process is dumn, because whne they translate it to English, they might take out some parts of the show that are only seen in Japan, like swearing, lamelessness, or even h...

Dubbing tkaes out some extra bits, like pointless talking, swearing, bathing etc. If only they can just leave the show just the way it is and just translate it without any editing! :angry:

The dub is alright. Japanese sub or without is better. I will love to watch it dubbed with no edits. But it is not the case.

Yeah it is because we always get the watered down versions of things, all animes should be uncut anywhere they are shown

Almost all of the episodes of Pokemon that I watched are dubs, so I can't really compare since I've only seen the original episodes on Youtube. They seem like the same to me.

I don't like a lot of dubs.... German is ok. But French, Spanish, Korean.... @_@ I expected a better result. At least of Korean.

My fave dub is DUTCH! I wouldn't easily choose a dub in my country, but Pokémon is dubbed PERFECTLY in my opinion.
(Besides Japanese, of course.)

I don't mind the dubbing, as long as they do keep the original Jap names. Subtitling Anime such as Pokemon is nearly impossible, seeing it's a show for children and not many children can "actually" read stuff that is on the bottom of their screens... :)
