Meh, I gave up on this story, so what's the point of having it around...?

This is a little story I'm working on, combining elements of Starfox with elements of Star Trek. It requires some knowledge of Star Trek (mostly concepts, ie. warp drive), and a bit more knowledge of Starfox (mostly characters and vehicles).

Anyway, here's the prologue:

“ROB, lay in a course for the Orbital Gate,” Fox said.
“Course ready, we will be there in 5 minutes,” ROB said.
These days, about 3 years after defeating the Anglars, the Starfox team consists of Fox, Falco, Slippy, Krystal, Amanda, Katt, Bill, and the newest addition, Lucy. They had just finished a mission, and are planning to use the orbital gate to take some vacation time, far, far away.
“Hey, pardners, it looks like we’ve arrived,” Bill said.
“General Peppy! We’re gonna take some vacation time far, far away. Right Amanda?,” said Slippy.
“You bet!” was Amanda’s reply.
“Okay, you guys, just be careful. We can’t afford to lose our best team,” Peppy warned.
“Relax, old timer,” Falco replied.
“Ooooh, I actually get to see a real Orbital Gate in action!!!” Lucy exclaimed.
In another universe, Commodore Schafer had just raced out for a non-existent distress call.
“Lt. Hillary, lay a course back in for the station, Transwarp 100. Engage,” Commodore Schafer said halfheartedly.
“Aye, sir,” came his reply.
The Whiteliner opened up subspace in front of them, and shot through it. The next thing they knew, they were in orbit around an earth-like planet, with a slightly smaller ship in front of it, painted red and white, and had the name Great Fox on it. Behind them was a giant gate that had a picture of their universe, but suddenly started shrinking, and then the gateway to their universe closed altogether.
“HILLARY, WHERE THE HECK ARE WE?” Schafer roared.
“We appear to be in another universe,” he replied.
“I CAN TELL THAT, JUST GET US HOME!” Commodore Schafer yelled.
“It’s not that simple, sir. This universe is so far away from ours, that we won’t be able to get home. I think it happened because we opened up subspace as soon as they opened up their portal, and by chance they interphased and sent us through here. From what I can tell, that gate is broken,” he explained.
“Engineering to bridge. Transwarp engines are offline. We blew several coils, and the subspace opener overloaded the power source for it. Warp engines are still online, and we can JUST reach Transwarp with all of our power,” Lt. Commander Zach explained.
“Hail them,” Braxton Schafer ordered.
“Whoa. I hope they aren’t baddies,” said Slippy.
“We…come….in peace,” said Krain.
“This is Commodore Schafer, of the Federation starship Whiteliner,” Braxton said.
“I’m Fox McCloud, and these are my teammates, Falco, Slippy, Krystal, Amanda, Katt, Bill, and Lucy,” introduced Fox.
“These are my crew members, Lt. Commander Krain, Lt. Hillary, Commander Hannah, Lt. Commander Zach, Lt. Commander Brian Crandle, and in sickbay, Commander Dr. Luke Lockhart,” the Commodore introduced.
“OK, now that we all know each other, let’s get to our vacation,” Katt said.
“That will be hard to do, because your little…toy here is broken,” Krain replied.
“Krain’s right, but he said it in a bad way,” Commodore Schafer replied to the reply.
“Uh, oh. I sense enemies. I sense these creatures similar to the Aparoids, but they’re from another universe. I also sense the presence of evil in the next solar system. Neither is close, but we need to get rid of them,” Krystal sensed.
