like the title says.
I think many people in my country know it, because Pokémon was "in" there once.
Most of them liked it, but they don't do anymore.
Some of them say it's childish.
stupid N00bs who haven't got a clue how interesting the game is...
the TV show made Pokémon very unpopular here, because the tv Channel, where they showed Pokémon, was sending, the same episodes again and again.
That bored a lot of people, Pokémon started becoming "out"...

In the Czech Republic, it's the same...... But there is a great poke-community, mainly on the Internet....... They even meet regularly to have fun ^^
@ pika2000
The same in my land. But many many knows it and I've found out that lots of them join it but not in the public thats very stupid and when I take my GBA at scool to play Firered for example then lots of students were very interestet in the game and say something like: "Cool it is a new Pokémon game? It looks still good" or something like that.
@ En kou nu
Such a Comunity hm it sounds very interesting^^ I don't know it tell us more please, in another topic will be great.
Here in Germany it's the same likes in Austria.
The most children (adults, too) know it, but only some people play the games or watching the anime now. RTL2 (German Pokémon Broadcasting Station) sends Pokémon only Mon-Fri at lunch time. At this time the most of kids are at school. So some people want to see the anime, but they don't can.
For example : Yu-Gi-Oh is broadcasted 2 or 3 times per day. Why not the same with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh only one time?

do they meet on the net or in real life then?
on some german forums people meet some time to play Pokémon.
I'd like to have the same here too, but I think that would be too complicated...

In US, I think that lots of kids like pokemon, they have shows of pokemon on TV and they sell pokemon stuffs in stores, I say pokemon is pretty popular in US.
In Vietnam however, pokemon is not well known, very few people or may be none know about pokemon.

I know it's kind of an old thread but pokemon is really well known in the U.S. but it's not very popular. Most of the people just say that it's a childish thing. It kinda sucks how not very many people I know like pokemon anymore, it seemed to have just died when the Third Pokemon Movie came out. I'm not as interested in pokemon anymore but I'll still be a fan for a pretty long time.

People know of it in my country (i.e. the US) but no one is really interested; if its ever brought up in a conversation, its always in some type of joke or always talking about the past... i.e. "Remember when we used to watch pokemon... wasn't Charizard like the best??".

well it used to be popular here in the uk athough people say its childish now although when it was popular it was when I was younger I still catch the episodes sometimes when I'm off school but mainly I just like to play the games If I told some one at my school i liked pokemon they would just laugh, they laugh at me for liking star wars saying that is childish even though I think it is a rather adult but thats getting off the subject so I'd say pokemon is known but just know as 'childish' her in the uk.

Hell yes! [/sarcasm]
Yes, it was known very well before... but it died after GMA Stopped airing Pokemon.
But when Cartoon Network started airing Pokemon here... somewhat the fad's trying to get back up here once again... The only disadvantage is that, only people who are subscribed to cable channels are hte only ones who will turn out to be the fans. And majority of the kids here are living in a house without cable subcription, so Pokemon won't gain much popularity still.

As far as I know, Pokémon isn't very ''in'', anymore. But the stores still sell trading cards and other items, plus I know there's a lot of Dutch people who visit Pokémon websites, so my guess is, everyone knows, but it's not as loved anymore as it used to be.
