o you think the animé has an influence on the games?
Well, there were the Green, blue and Red versions first, where the pokémon sprites might have looked rather unprofessional to

some of you.
The Pokémon looked different from what they look today, not only just because the sprites weren#t that good.

After the first games, there was the animé and then they released Yellow.

The sprites in Yellow pretty much look like the Pokémon do in the animé.
They also used the Pikachu part in the game.

Now I wonder:
If there wasn't the animé, would the sprites still look pretty much like that?

Do you think the animé has had an influence on the games?

It is of my opinion that the sprites would have changed with or without the anime. Remember that Ken Sugimori does the "official" art for the games. This is where the animators might get their inspiration from when drawing the characters for the show. Besides, the technology is getting better. The classic Red/Blue/Yellow at their eight-bit level can not compare with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, which looks like a Super Nintendo game. This helped the differences in the sprites.

Though, the spriters could have watched the anime and studied how the Pokémon look. It's really difficult to say what influnced what.

In the begining, i'm sure there was a little bit influence.

In yellow version, other than the sprites, the only other infuence it had on the game was that Pikachu followed you around(Yet, you were still able to put it in a box XD )

but after that, there has been no influence from the anime whatsoever. I think they're trying to keep each other apart as much as they can. A good example was that many people thought that Super Contests in D/P were going to have a battle catagorey just like in the anime. Lo and behold, D/P came out and there was no battle catagorey in Super Contests, but a "dance" one insted.

There are others. I just can't remember them. But thank god that the anime doesn't influence the games. because then i'd have to deal with Ash, Anime version of May and Drew -_- (But Brock is cool)

Thats how I feel...

If it wasn't for the anime the sprites would still look crappy IMO.

Nah, the only exception to that is Pokemon Yellow. Otherwise, the anime wouldn't have an actual influence on the games. I Mean, if the games and the anime have the same storyline, what's the point of playing the game when you can watch how the actual storyline goes in the anime. The anime gives off a lot of twists and turns which is different from the games. As for the sprites, with the technological advances, it's possible to improve the look of the sprite... ;D

Only Yellow ever has. It's often been the traditon that the games set the precedent for what happens in the animé, although there have been many deviations.
