View Full Version : Is the animé still interesting?

Well, it seems like the animé isn't going to end anytime soon.
The are making season after season and there aren't really changes.
Or are there?

I admit I haven't seen any of the new episodes, I have seen episode pics though which just
remind me of a standard episode.
An episode like all the other ones before.
Ash sees a new Pokémon in almost every episode and travels along with Hikari and they meet Team Rocket like usual.

Don't you think the animé should change a little bit?
Is it still interesting for you?

I fail to see any changes beside new Pokémon and character replacements.
Ash should change physically since he's getting older.
Or maybe it's time to replace him?

What are your opinions on this?

Towards the end of Hoenn, I stopped watching the show. The last episode I saw was when Tetsuya was introduced.

Yes, the show has gotten to be boring. The episodes mostly follow the same formula for a plot, ie the trainer of the day gaining confidence by beating Team Rocket. I miss the old days, when you had Bill and the mystery Pokémon, the Pokémon school, etc. The episodes that broke out of the mold and became memorable. Even the Orange Islands Gym system was a great change.

If they want to keep the old fans into the show, then the producers should throw in a few changes. I'm not talking about those changes that people think would make it more mature - swearing, blood, and that sort. What I am talking about is more character development. We watched Ash grow up in the first series. That's what kept me interested. Watching him learn about the world as he leaves home for the first time, and seeing him gain in maturity.

Now, there is Hikari for Ash to teach, in the same style as he taught May, and how Misty and Brock taught him. But she doesn't go through the same range of emotions that he did, so far. Ash dreamed that he was king of the world and that no one could beat him.

On the topic of Ash changing, his physical appearance should change. It's not good if I can watch the first episode and then the latest episode and see no change. There doesn't have to be that great of a change to his appearance, but something...

I lost interest in the anime once the Hoenn series started.

The fact that they kept Ash and brought in May and booted Brendan off didn't sit too well with me. Also, it's just the same routine. Ash goes, collects badges, catches a few pokemon, some are stubborn and won't evolve, blows up Team Rocket. Goes to the championship tournament and loses.

All in all, i'm just tired of seeing Ash's face and I just want to see different main characters in different regions.

One of the biggest reasons why I love the Pokemon Special manga, they switch main characters every series, and it's never the same storyline in each one and they use Legendary pokemon to their full potential. while in the anime, they show show off one fancy hyper beam and a short battle and thats it.

If the anime were more like the manga(different main characters, drama, small love story here and there, long catastrophic battles involving legendaries humans getting attacked by pokemon, Team Rocket actually doing something evil and getting away with it, showing you that they mean business) then you got yourself a good pokemon anime that can keep ME interested. I'm not too sure of anyone else.

(In fact, If I remember correctly, there was a petition to make the Pokespecial manga into it's own anime series, i'm all for that)

Some of the Hoenn episodes were really boring, it was probably the worst season of all. The writers have thought about everything, now it's repetative and dull. BF is better, but it also SUCKS. The new VA's are why, PUSA buying Pokemon ruined it. 4Kids, for giving the anime to people who ruined dubbing and voices, I say, "F-U", but for bringing us people like Veronica, Eric, Maddie, Rachael, and the others for years, I say, "Thank you." has anybody noticed; PUSA screwed up in there FIRST episode, and people are saying "But 4Kids said that Seviper evolved into Arbok!" but, that was on episode what, 400+?PUSA screwed up on #1. NOBODY likes Ash's new voice, her voice is dispicable and she sucks as a voice actor and should be fired ASAP. The n00bs have no emotion in there voice, the old VA's did. When Ash left Misty and Brock, I felt sad because I heard the sadness in Veronica's voice, the anime is now dead to me. It used to be my favorite show, THANKS FOR SCREWING WITH A SHOW THAT THOUSANDS LOVED AND GREW UP ON PUSA.

I used to watch it a VERY long time ago (before it got very boring) and now I'm glad that I never watch it anymore. Yes, I think the plot is overused.

I think it isn't anymore. I started not caring if I missed Pokemon episodes. I don't even watch it anymore. If it were interesting still, I think I'd put in a little more effort into trying to watch it. D;
It is all the same things over again. It's just not worth the time.

I miss the old episodes. Those were awesome. ;;

I honestly am not that interested in the anime anymore, although I hate to admit it to myself.

It just seems so repetitious and stale. I miss the old episodes and the old VA's. It seems like a part of my childhood withered away when they were changed.. I think alot of people would say the same because they all grew up with Eric, Veronica, Maddie and Rachael bringing these characters to life.

I'm going to be blunt with my answer. It got boring because they kept the same exact plot for every episode. Basically all that happens:

Ash: "I'm ash and this is my 306547689476894th girlfriend. I'm on my way to the gym!"
Dawn: "We're just friends. That's why I'm following you everywhere and sticking to you like glue."
Ash: "Hey look a new friend."
New guy: "Blah blah blah talking."
Dawn: "Blah blah blah eating."
Ash: "Let's battle!"
Ash: "Oh no! Team Rocket took our Pokémon. Go Pikachu!"
Team Rocket: "Harharharhar! It's electric proof!!!11"
New Guy and/or Ash: "Go, new Pokémon! Advertise Pokémon games with your attack!"
Team Rocket: "OMGz dat pogeymon wuz 2 strong 4 us! we r blasting of agiain!!"
Ash/New Guy/New Girl: [Insert explanation about how friendship and teamwork always prevails]

The old Kanto episodes were cool though. I don't have a complex reason as to why I liked them though. Meh. . .

To be honest, I really can't stand the new episodes. It just doesn't appeal to me like it once did with the older episodes. I despised what they've done to the voices; I tried watching the new episodes but after a few minutes, I wanted to throw something at the TV. I don't know, like a lot of people said, it just isn't the same.

I wish they put in a lot more character development. Whenever I'm writing fanfiction, it's so hard to come up with traits that could fit with the character. Why? Because we've never seen certain sides of the majority of characters that often leads people to use their imaginations. That alone can annoy me.

Dawn and Paul are alright, but they just don't really appeal to me, epsecially with their dub voices. o__o; Team Rocket has gotten far too boring for me. I used to love them in the old seasons since they often got episodes dedicated to them. The old gang was awesome, too. Brock has really lost his character now and I find it pretty pointless that he's around. Ash is meh with me now due to the plot, which is completely predictable.

I just wish they would make the show a lot more exciting. Have all of the characters grow, more complicated plots, and of course, my personal favorite - romance. It doesn't have to be that violent, just something different for the audience to see. I can't get myself to watch episodes in this way.

Because of the dub voices?
And what about the story?

I've heard some people say that D/P is more interesting than the seasons before, do you think that's true?
I don't really feel like watching it anymore...

They seem interesting. Nothing special(or different, for that matter) though. I think at this point, it does seem like a lost cause to try to get back into it right now. Even if I like Dawn's character, and Paul's English voice annoys the hell out of me
