Like the title says.
Do you give nicknames to your Pokémon?
If yes, which ones?

I nickname almost every Pokémon I plan to use for my team.

Some of my nicknames for my Pokés are based on their Japanese name or a random name which came to my mind.

A few examples:
Swampert = Mizzey (Mizugorou is Mudkip's Japanese name)
Charizard = Lizzy (Lizardon is Charizard's Japanese name
Absol = Burakku
Pikachu = CHuI
Linoone = Zicki (Zigzachs is Zigzagoon's German name)
Swellow = Suba (OOsubame is Swellow's Japanese name)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't name mine either. I might call Pochama Pingu, but yeah, nothing else...

I nickname the Pokemon I use in my team.

I usually name them after characters in my stories, just because I have no better ideas.

The standard list: Nayana, Arielle, Lance, Alexander, Charles, William, Noland... Annibel, Dian, Odneis, Malis, maybe Andi can't think of any more from that character set... XD

I've started nicknaming my pokémon according to his/her/its species. For instance:

Squirtle is the tiny turtle pokémon, so I nicknamed it Chibi (Mini, Little) Kame (Turtle). Really, the exact spelling was CHIBI-KAME. However, it became a Blastoise, of course, which is the shellfish pokémon. I changed its name to KAI.

Pokemon with the same species, I ran out of ideas. I once named a Nidoran male DOKU-2. Luckily, I trained it into a Nidoking, so it became DORIRU (Drill). ^_^;;

Of course, I also nickname my pokémon according to some of my friends he/she/it may remind me of. Or I sometimes nickname them like Red does in the manga (Pika for PIKACHU, Bulba for BULBASAUR, etc.).

I only nickname pokemon if I think it suits it

the ONLY pokemon in which I nicknamed from what I felt would fit it would be:

Meatgross - 'Amadeus'

I named it Amadeus from a small reference to Mozart the Musical Prodigy

another pokemon I nicknamed but I nicknamed it for the sake of it being funny is:

Tynrannatar- 'Skunce!'

Just because I thought it was funny

I at least nickname all the Pokemon in my party. I use Latin names:

Metagross - Auriga (the Charioteer)
Salamence - Draco (the Dragon)
Heracross - Hercules
Snorlax - Altilis Ursus (Fat Bear)

Etc.

Only pokes I have ever nicknamed are Scramble Challenge (See SPPF) pokes.

I normally name them after a group I picked

1st Team (Universe)

Andromeda (Wailord) (Based On Andromeda Galaxy)
Ophiuchus (Hariyama) (Based on the Constellation)
Tycho (Alakazam) (Based on the Tycho Crater on the Moon)
Callisto (Grovyle) (Based on Callisto, One of Jupiters Moons)
Kepler (Ninjask) (Based on the Kepler Supernova)
Sirius (Zangoose) (Based on Sirius, the dog star, the brightest star in the night sky, located in the Canis Major Constellation)

New Scramble (Gods and Goddesses)

Vycksta (Sneasel) (Based On Vycksta of SPPF. Used to wind her up ;) )
Ouranos (Nidoking) (Misspelling of Uranus, head of the Early Greek Gods)
Helios (Magmar) (Based on Helios of the Olympians)
Pekko (Tangela) (Based on Pekko, god of the Karelians)
Sedna (Slowking) (Based on the Inuit Goddess of the Sea)
Persephone (Haunter) (Based on the Queen of the Underworld)

I just give mine names that first come to mind, if I want to name them.

Houndoom - Gwyllgi (from the legend)
Salamence - Saphira (from Eragon)
Metagross - X Factor (because of its X)
Tyranitar - Big Daddy (because it's big and it had a kid)
Swampert - Torrent (its ability)
Scyther - DeathAngel (reference to Jaffar from Fire Emblem, who was an assassin)

Yeah, I got weird names. If I ever get a Shiny Charizard, it'll be named Shruikan, probably.

Like, Linole the Linoone, Tike the Manectric, and etc. XD

I never give my Pokémon a nickname, unless I'm in a funny mood.

Eh. I usually name every single one of the Pokemon I catch. From the FR/LG...

Sceptile- Floor Plan (Tile. Hehe.)
Dragonite- Nova2 (First Nova was R/B series.)
Venasaur- House Plant
Scizor- Blade
Xatu- Star Gazer

Never had a sixth member. I stopped playing/got it stolen from after I got three of them to 100.

Yup, in every game. I usually have themes too. For R/S/E, I nicknamed my Pokemon after the PokeSpecial characters Sapphire and Ruby's Pokemon. In Diamond, I named them one descriptive word.

I never nickname my Pokémon.
It's hard for me to remember all names of them, so giving them a nickname would be even more impossible to remember.

I only nickname certain Pokemon. For two examples- I named my Rock Polish sweeping Armaldo "Xailo" because even though it's completely made up, it sounds pretty nice. I also have an Absol named "Lysol" because they sound similar. XD

Depends on the pokemon, typing, location, game, etc.

Fang
04-12-2008, 11:22 AM
Ofcourse I do! not all of them, but the ones I use. I like to call giratina Hollow Gold because he seems hollow to me, and I geuss his yellow parts are made of gold.
I name them inspired by myth too. or the characters they're based on, like empoleon = napoleon

I nickname Pokemon special to me, like my Infernape, I nicknamed him Inferno, hence my username, and Empoleon is nicknamed Napoleon, after Napoleon Bonaparte ;)

I take the time to nickname all of my Pokemon. It gives each Pokemon an even greater sense of individuality, and makes it easy to distinguish Pokemon from one another, in my opinion. :)

Cosmar

Sometimes. It just depends, really. If I can't think of a nickname, I'll just leave it as it is until I do think of one, and when I'm not busy EV training/leveling up, etc. (my Umbreon was Level 40-something before I named her, since I was busy leveling her up at the E4 and I kept forgetting to take her to the name rater).

I never nickname my Pokemon. I guess I'm just lazy, but I don't see why I should give a name to pixels. :p It's cute though.
