When you start a club, make sure you take the following points into consideration:

Before creating a club:

Is there already an active club like this?

A club is considered active when one of the owners has been active on the forums in the last month and is taking care of the club ("approving" new members, posting in the club,..).
It doesn't matter when the last post in the thread has been made, whether a club is active or not depends on the owners' activity NOT the thread age.
To make sure you didn't overlook a club, search the club forums (http://piforums.paulhq.com/search.php?f=61).

Only if the club isn't active, go and create a new one.
You may also get permission from the club owner(s) themselves to create a new club.

What is my club about?

You are allowed to make clubs about almost everything, however there certain types of clubs which require special rules.

Anti/Hate Clubs
Clubs like that aren't allowed, since they cause nothing but flaming.

Member Fanclubs
You are allowed to make clubs to honour a certain member of the forums, however ask them for permission first, not everyone might want a club to be made about him/her.

Political/Religious Clubs
Clubs dealing with political/religious or any similar subjects which might incite flamewars are allowed, however you need to get a staff member's permission to create them.

You can PM the following people for permission:

Karma Dude (http://piforums.paulhq.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=15)
cυтe тogepι (http://piforums.paulhq.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=225)

When you are the club owner:

Take care of your club

Inactive clubs (clubs that don't have an active owner caring about them) are allowed to be remade.
If you don't want something like that to happen, be sure to post in your club regularly.
If you are going to stay away for a longer amount of time, feel free to leave a notice in the Club Hangout (http://piforums.paulhq.com/showthread.php?t=2136) to inform the others about your absence.

However if you've appointed some club helpers or co-owners, your club will be considered active even if you are away, as long as they take care of it.

Club topics

Of course you are allowed to talk about whatever you like in your clubs, however it has to have a connection with the topic the club is about.
Please don't make too many off-topic posts, that's not the purpose of a club.
Also feel free to post pictures and any other interesting things concerning the club's topic.

Rewards for active clubs

We are always happy about people contributing something to the forums, so we also give rewards for people who make their clubs popular and interesting.

If the staff considers a club active, they'll offer you to create either a usegroup or a forum for the club (you may choose what you prefer).

It's up to the staff whether they think a club derserves a reward, but there are a few things which might help you achieve that:

A lot of posts in your club
Many members
Interesting topics
Club owners/helpers who put effort into their workHow do I make my club stand out/popular?

Some people might look for methods to make their clubs more active/popular, here are some suggestions:
Enter your club in the "Club of the month" contest
Put the link to your club into your sig
Make a banner for your club
Ask the other club members to advertise
Questions and other stuff concerning clubs

If you've got a question concerning the rules, whether a club is considered active or not, or just want to have a little chat about the clubs, feel free to make a post in the club hangout (http://piforums.paulhq.com/showthread.php?t=2136).
