What? Can't I make one? ._. Well, of course I can, since I am natually Filipino... ._.
First, I need to clarify something. Filipino and Tagalog are NOT THE SAME. Yes, I have learned this recently. Even if Filipino is derived from Tagalog, it's not the same. Reasons, because Filipino is also derived from Spanish and English... so you might say it's a combination of the three. Pure Tagalog won't have any English terms AT ALL. So... [/end of rant]
Anyways, let's get started with some simple terms... =P
Standard Phrases:
Hello - Hello ... don't ask... >.>
How are you? - Kamusta ka na?
I'm fine - Mabuti naman...
What's your name? - Ano ang pangalan mo?
Good Morning - Magandang Umaga
Good Afternoon - Magandang Hapon
Good-bye - Paalam
Pronouns
I - Ako
You - Ikaw
We - Tayo
He/She - Siya*
*in everyday conversation here, the word "siya" is sometimes used to refer to an object... ._.
Numbers (This is more of Tagalog, so yeah... what preceeds it is the Filipino spelling derived from Spanish)
One - Isa - Uno
Two - Dalawa - Dos
Three - Tatlo - Tres
Four - Apat - Kwatro
Five - Lima - Singko
Six - Anim - Seis
Seven - Pito - Siyete
Eight - Walo - Otcho
Nine - Siyam - Nuwebe
Ten - Sampu - Diyes
Days (this is also derived from Spanish):
Monday - Lunes
Tuesday - Martes
Wednesday - Miyerkules
Thursday - Huwebes
Friday - Biyernes
Saturday - Sabado
Sunday - Linggo
Months (derived from Spanish, once again):
January - Enero
Feburary - Pebrero
March - Marso
April - Abril
May - Mayo
June - Hunyo
July - Hulyo
August - Agosto
September - Setyembre/Septiyembre
October - Oktubre
November - Nobyembre
December - Disyembre
Questions:
What - Ano
Who - Sino
Where - Saan
How - Paano
When - Kailan
Some other things:
Mga - usually optional, but it is a pluralizing word. For example, "kids" in Filipino is "mga bata".
Hindi - literally means "No" in English, but they can also be used for the word, "not". Like: "I'm not allowed" is "Hindi ako pwede."
Japanese Words that mean another thing in Filipino:
Baka - In Japanese, this means "stupid/idiot", but it Filipino, it means, "cow or beef".
Shabu - In Japanese, I think this means... cooked meat or something (don't know what it is exactly), but in Filipino, it means "Illegal drugs", so be careful... =P
(Might add more as I learn more things...)
Anyone else who wishes to help me out with this might do so... =3
EDIT: Added the words that are used to start a question. Might add some more info later on.
