How do I become a moderator?

First of all, not everyone can become a mod.
PIF is a rather small forum, so we don’t just randomly mod good people, since there is no need to have that many mods.
However, there are a few things which might increase your chances to become one.

How do I increase my chances on becoming a mod?

-Be able to keep cool in every kind of situation
For example, if there is a heated discussion going on, or the mod feels offended by a post, they should always stay calm and try to solve the problem in a mature way.
You as a user shouldn’t post anything which might even make the situation worse, if you feel something is wrong, make use of the report button.

-Treat other members in a friendly way
People are different, people can be intelligent, nice, stupid, annoying, well, they can be everything.
There is always a certain chance that you might not like a certain member for some reason, yet you shouldn’t flame them or anything else.
If they break the rules, report them.

-Make use of the report button instead of mini-modding
When you see someone breaking the rules, don’t post and tell them they are, that’s mini-modding.
Use the report button instead. Moderators will see who’s been reporting posts, so yes, they will notice who’s helping out.

-Make intelligent posts
Having a high postcount really doesn’t have any effect, if you don’t put much effort into your posts.
Your posts don’t necessarily have to be long all the time, yet you should put as much content as possible into them.

-Use proper grammar and spelling
I’m not saying you should be a spelling and grammar king/queen, however your posts should be almost free of spelling and grammar mistakes and understandable.

-Be active
We like active people who contribute a lot to the forums.
You don't have to be online 24/7, however you should show a certain level of activity.

-Don’t ask for it
Asking to be a mod won’t get you anywhere, since we’ll always pick our mods ourselves.
It also leaves a bad impression.

I’ve done my best to fulfill those requirements, will I become a mod now?

It usually depends on if and where mods are needed.

Who decides who becomes a mod?

Whenever the staff members feel, that PIF needs some new mods, they post their suggestions which will be discussed afterwards.
If the majority of the staff members agrees with the suggestion, the member will be modded.
So yes, modding is a decision of all the staff members, not only the admins.
