First of, this is not about Pokemon, instead, it's based of a MMORPG called RuneScape. Quite popular on there too. in RS, there is a place called The Duel Arena where people fight. This is based of that.
Prologue.

Every 300 years, a tournament takes place. This tournament takes place in Al-Kharid in the Northeast. Everybody knows about it but only few know about what happens. Every 300 years on the 30th day of the 3rd month. The owner of the Duel Arena, the Busaki family, holds the tournament. The greatest warriors fight in it but only one can be the winner. However you do not sign up, you are forced to go. Two people go in at a time and only 1 person can come out alive. The prize for winning? Your name feared throughout the land and tremendous wealth bigger than arena itself. The story begins with two childhood friends, Steven and Charlie, Steven being a mage and Charlie a warrior.
Chapter 1.

Steven and Charlie lived 2 houses away from each other. They lived in the town of Rimmington; Charlie fished for the town while Steven cooked. This happened for 15 years of their life, and they enjoyed it. In there spare time, they trained there skills in case of monster attacks. Both were 24 years of age. There happiness was about to change. On March 30th, a stranger came. Charlie was the first to rush out with his sword. When Steven saw Charlie running, he joined him armless.
"Who goes there?" Said Charlie with his sword in his attacking stance. The stranger looked up at them both.
"Do you know where Charlie and Steven are? I need them" the stranger asked them. Steven and Charlie looked at each other before answering.
"There right in front of you!" said Charlie who was never good with words. The stranger withdrawn a sword and charged at Charlie. He parried the stranger and Steven Fire blasted the him. He fell to the floor but got up instantly. This time Charlie was the first to attack. He slashed and slashed at the stranger but kept missing. Steven snared the stranger and Charlie disarmed the him.
"Yes, here, you have this" the stranger told and he threw 2 letters to the ground. Before Charlie could react, the stranger teleported away.
Charlie walked over to the letters with confusion and picked them up. 1 letter had Charlie's name on and the other had Steven's.
