What program are you trying to take screenshots from?
What kind of file is it?
I know on Windows Media Player, there's an easy way to fix it so you can take screenshots using print screen (if you don't know where that is, it's on the keys above your arrow keys, on the upper row, on a standard keyboard. It should have print screen or something short like that. Laptops are diffrent, look for a button with prt sc). Then once you hit it, you can open your image program (paint, photoshop, ect) and paste it.
Tools > Options > Preformance > Video Acceleration
I do believe you set it to the middle, and it should take screenshots of what you're watching. Or at least that's what I used to do when I wanted to take screens of the few Pokemon episodes I once had. ^^;

Could you explain it in more detail. First, what kind of file is it in general, i.e. the file extension could help better. And second, what are you trying to do, take one specific screenshot or generate mulitple screenshots?

If someone says "take a screenshot and show me", they most likely want you to press "PrtScr" (print screen) located at the top-right of your keyboard (after the F keys).
Next, go to paint and go to Edit >> Paste. And now you have your screenshot.
If you were referring to another program, you'll have to be a bit more specific if you want some help. (There are a lot of programs in the world today :))

I'm pressing that button and it doesn't seem to work...
Isn't something supposed to pop up or something.

Print Screen digitally takes a snapshot of the current screen. You would have to paste the data in the clipboard to some program such as paint or other image editing program.

Nothing pops up. It just stores the image in your computer's temporary memory so you have to paste it into an image editing program (such as Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, etc.), pretty much what bgtfamily said.
