Some people say it's childish stuff, but it isn't.
The games are too complicated for children...

The games *can* be too complicated if you plan on battling other people around you.....
But they are very easy to play if you don't care about training the best pokemon. This makes them perfect for any age.......

I don't think anyone can be too old for anything...if you like it..then like it! I hate people who tell others not to like something because of what ever reason. those people really need to shive their opinions up their a$$! I was tortured in fifth grade just because I like pokemon...it's so stupid! I'm 14 now and still like, oes to show what they said almost no effect on me. They told me that the show was stupid...now even if that's true (which it isn't) there are so many more things to pokemon (shipping, cards, games) that it can't all be bad. And none of it is. Man, people leave me alone! >_<

I actually think the dub of the show is meant to be for kids.
The voices sound a bit childish and there are also all these "OMG let's be friends we are so happy" songs, which only exist in the dubbed versions.
The japanese version is luckily a lot more different and the characters seem more adult.

I must admit that not many share the liking for Pokemon at this age of mine, well at least here in my place for I have never heard discussions about Pokemon in the University. I have read that many of the western lands in the world have this point of view that Pokemon is for kids, gradeschoolers, only and that if you still like these kind of stuff you will be mocked and teased as childish. Pokemon is deep. It isn't just one of those "10 levels, shoot at anything that moves, finished in half an hour" games. It's a complete world that has it's story. It also has a lot of details that no other games have.

Im 17 and i dont think you can get too old. Not for the Gameboy and DS games anyway. I think the anime is more targeted at chilren, so yes you probably will grow out of it. The games can be enjoyed by any age. When you get older you can enjoy the strategic side of it more whereas younger children (im talking 5 and 6) just go for strong or cool looking pokemon etc.

I agree that the marketing of nintendo mostly targets young(er) children. Say 10 year olds. This gives it a childish image. But it still is a pretty complex strategy and in my eyes a good game. Although I'm beginning to see that pokémon is losing the special touch. But that's another story :p

"Being too old" is a subjective view that comes down to the opinions of who you ask. As fans of the series we're unlikely to see it as something you would grow out of. There are those who may think that it's purely for children though, it is likely that they've never played or even heard of the truly competetive side of battlng such as IV's, EV's and bla.
