How should i make my website?

Ok, i'm still trying to think how i should make my website, my friend has suggested that i try to make it like IGN and Gamespot and make it with every single game ever made, now everyone know's this'll take what about 1 year ot maybe 2. Or should i sell my old domain and focus on Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony. Now when the time comes i'm hoping to buy a layout for $40 which i think is probably the best layout, i've ever seen. So what do you think i should do? Focus on one genre and finish my site quicker or focus on all games in general and take year's finishing my website?

If it's your first website, go for a smaller one and don't waste $40 for the layout....
If you already have some experience, you should be able to tell what would be best for you, but I'd go for a scalable site - small first, designed with adding more stuff in mind.

yeah like ECK, start it on one thing EX Nintendo and then broadent to maybe Games and then add in the details like walthroughs pics etc.

Me and my friend are coding the site in: PHP, HTML, SHTML and Flash so we're going to go for the big site first.

Hey Shadow... for one you should do it over everything... two... I have a small proposition... if your looking for a merger or i dunno... multiple webbies... I think I could help contribute to your cause... I already have a site & domain idea... well, actually I already have a domain if your interested... and I also have someone else that wouldn't mind helping out... if your interested reply to this thread or pm me...

Just remember this... everyone can go out by theirselves and make seperate sites... or maybe people can forge together and create a "nice" site... something comparable to spot or ign... but you can do what you want... I'm just here to suggest and help.

I am i'm making the layout and doing the content, my friend is just helping with the flash part and some coding part's. Anyway i've decided to make a full general gaming site, the domain 'gamerzplanet.co.uk' wouldn't go well for a nintendo site and i'm not buying a whole new domain.

you do know that ign & gamespot aren't soloed... let alone have less than 10 dedicated staff members working for them...

I am going to get staff you know -_-. I'm not planning to stay on the internet for more than 3 year's from here, so someone else will probably get the site to buy or look after. Anyway of course i'm going to get staff members, think i'd work on the site by myself? XD
